Oracle is pitching its cloud like a utility company. Its new Zettascale10 infrastructure promises multi-gigawatt capacity—a unit for power grids, not software. This is for clients who need to burn enough electricity for a small town just to run their AI.

Speeding AI Database Workloads Oracle Database 26ai, Oracle’s flagship database, is adding key functionality to accelerate high-volume AI vector workloads. Oracle Database 26ai application programming interfaces now support integration with NVIDIA NeMo Retriever, allowing developers to easily run vector embedding models or implement retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) pipelines using NVIDIA NIM microservices.
Oracle is wiring NVIDIA's next-gen GPUs directly into its data centers, betting everything on that hardware. The goal? To be the default for companies with severe computational needs.
Everyone's doing some version of this, of course. Oracle's argument hinges on integrating those NVIDIA tools natively with its existing suite of over 200 cloud services—a simpler, bundled stack for the enterprise. The partnership digs into Oracle's core product, too.
The upcoming Database 26ai will include hooks for NVIDIA's NeMo Retriever, the unglamorous plumbing that connects corporate data to large language models. Oracle has long trailed Amazon, Microsoft, and Google. Its play now is to forget the general cloud race and sell industrial-grade AI compute as a specialty.
The market will decide if a sales pitch measured in gigawatts is enough.
