Jio will launch a people-first intelligence platform built in India for India and the world, enabling every citizen, starting from Gujarat, to access AI services in their own language on their own device every day, making them more efficient and productive," Ambani reportedly said. Ambani added that RIL has invested over ₹3.5 lakh crore in Gujarat over the last five years.
The scale is almost incomprehensible. It represents a hard pivot from pumping crude to processing data. Ambani's promise hinges on a "people-first" platform from Jio, one that works in local languages on ordinary phones.
The idea is to embed AI into daily life for a billion people, starting in Gujarat. It is a staggering bet on national digital sovereignty, backed by the three and a half lakh crore Reliance has already poured into the state. This is more than an investment.
It's a claim on how the next generation of technology will be built and who it will serve. Now they have to build it.
