None of it is interesting. Even the stackable power banks, after some prodding, admitted they had no AI at all. ModuVerse isn’t alone in this stretch.
The same hall saw an AI microwave. Because of course it did.
Modular phone concepts are nothing new, so the AI hook is what makes ModuVerse unique -- in theory. One of the "Modus" makes sense: a meeting attachment that connects magnetically, generating AI transcripts and live translation onto a mini display on the back. But when I asked what made everything else AI, Infinix didn't really have any good answers.
The gimbal camera has AI stabilization, the vlogging lens uses AI to detect faces, and the microphone has AI voice isolation -- all technically AI-based, but not in any way that's interesting. As for the magnetic, stackable power banks, Infinix's reps eventually admitted they don't really have any AI at all. AI microwave There's a growing trend for AI and robotic cooking hardware -- The Verge's Jen Tuohy reviewed a $1,500 robot chef just last month -- but Wan AIChef is something altogether less impressive: an AI-enabled microwave.
And so ModuVerse arrives at CES 2026 carrying a promising idea: a modular phone that actually learns from you. But the promise is hollow. Peel back the “AI” sticker, and you find little more than repackaged conveniences, stabilization, face detection, voice isolation, each technically true, each fundamentally unremarkable.
The one genuine innovation, a meeting magnet that transcribes and translates in real time, gets buried under a pile of buzzwords. Meanwhile, a microwave that calls itself a chef. This is the danger of painting every feature with the same AI brush: when everything is intelligent, nothing is.
ModuVerse’s hardware is clever. Its software? That’s the part that still needs to earn the name.
